 Deer
We have several different
hunting areas covering more than 3000 acres. Our stands consist of mostly
15ft ladder stands, but we also have tripods, ground blinds, and shooting
houses. With over 40 stands preset and the ability to pop up a blind at any
time we can move around to and find the deer movements to match the
conditions.
Rifle, Archery, and Muzzleloader ($2800)
UNIT 11
Our Rifle and Muzzleloader
hunts are 5 days, and Archery hunts are 6 days long. You will arrive the
afternoon before and leave out the
 morning
after. We provide all meals, lodging, transportation to and from the hunting
areas, and almost everything needed. You are responsible for your deer tag
and hunting license. Application deadline will be in late April. We will
help you apply when the time comes to do so. All of our hunts are the same
price regardless of seasons. Every time you go afield you have a chance to
kill that buck of a lifetime. We are not in the business of selling deer, we
are providing you an opportunity to hunt some of the best farms in the
midwest. Less than 10% of the deer in this area will be shooter bucks. We
don't keep them in a pen with a 1 to 1 ratio. This is real hunting, you
might hunt 5 days and not see a shooter or you might have 6 shooters chase a
doe under your tree at 5 yds in the first 10 min. We believe a shooter is
classified as the deer you decide to shoot. As long as it is at least a 3
1/2 yr old deer. We have killed 3 1/2 yr old 175 inch and 4 1/2 yr old 198
inch bucks. We also have killed 6 1/2 yr old 105 inch bucks. As long as you
are not shooting 2 1/2 yr old bucks or younger you will be able to keep
hunting with us. We also do not charge trophy fees. That goes back to not
trying to sell you a deer. If you want a 200 inch deer and want to pay by
the inch go find a high fence!!
Ducks
Iron Gate is located in a
major local flyway with a good to excellent flight of birds in most years.
We have deep water to hunt when the potholes are frozen over as well as the
shallow water that mallards love. Duck hunts are done on a
limited basis. We will wait for the ducks to get here, then we will call you
and get you here to shoot them. $200 a day, 3 day min. gets you lodging,
evening meals, 100's of acres of water, and 1000's of acres of fields to
hunt in.
Turkey
We have a load of Eastern,
Rio Grande and Hybrid turkeys for you to hunt. Hunting along the river, a small creek, or
chasing them in the strip pits we will keep you busy.
$200 a day, 3 day min. gets
you lodging, evening meals, and several places to kill your birds. Guide can
be arranged for additional fee.
